Punjabi actress Mandy Takhar recently spoke exclusively to ETimes in honor of Shaheed Diwas, reflecting deeply on the legacy of revered martyrs Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar. Takhar emphasized the significance of never forgetting the ultimate sacrifices made by these brave individuals, stating, “The best way to pay tribute to the martyrs is by never forgetting that they sacrificed their lives to save lives, the nation, ‘strangers.’”
In today’s digital age, with social media often overshadowed by negativity, Takhar found solace in the outpouring of positivity surrounding Shaheed Diwas. She remarked, “In today’s day and age with social media being such a big part of our world, it’s lovely to see people posting pictures, quoting the martyrs. With so much trolling happening on social media, it’s beautiful and refreshing to see positivity and prayers.”
When asked to dedicate a song to the shaheeds, Takhar chose ‘Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna’ from the iconic film ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh.’ She recalled being deeply moved by the song, stating, “I remember crying so much when I heard and saw it. It’s a masterpiece tribute to the sacrifices of our shaheeds. Inspiring and heart-wrenching all in one.”
Additionally, Takhar took a moment to extend her congratulations to Sidhu Moosewala’s parents on the arrival of their newborn son. She found their resilience inspiring, noting, “It’s inspiring to see that after losing their only child they did not stop dreaming.”
Reflecting on the qualities she aspires to emulate from the martyrs, Takhar humbly said, “I am too little and too normal a human being to say I have a quality of any Shaheed but I certainly do try my best to follow their teachings in my day to day life by doing right by others before I do anything which would only be beneficial to me and not for the people around me in my personal life or people I work with.”
In conclusion, Takhar paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs, stating, “However, sacrificing life and doing your best to be a good human being can’t be compared or seen as similar; so my heartfelt salute to our martyrs.”
