Renowned actor Mithun Chakraborty, who was hospitalized in Kolkata for an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke), is reported to be in stable condition. The update on his health was confirmed by news agency ANI in a video shared from the hospital on Sunday.
In the footage, Chakraborty is seen on his hospital bed surrounded by medical professionals who reassured him in Hindi, stating, “Ab theek hai, saline chal raha hai, paani aap adequate peerahe hai. Bas peete rahiye” (Now it’s okay, the drip is continuing, you’re drinking adequate water, keep drinking…). The actor made a gesture towards his feet and uttered an inaudible comment during the recording.
Chakraborty was admitted to the Kolkata hospital on Saturday morning, where he received a diagnosis of an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. The hospital issued an official statement on the actor’s health, noting that he was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations, including an MRI of the brain, were conducted. Presently, Chakraborty is fully conscious, well-oriented, and has consumed a soft diet. A team of doctors, including a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and gastroenterologist, is further evaluating his condition.
Chakraborty, aged 73, was recently announced as one of the recipients of the Padma Bhushan Awards for 2024.
