Renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s latest film, “Neru,” directed by Jeethu Joseph, continues to make waves as it enters its 35th day in theaters. The movie has officially joined the coveted 100-crore club, surpassing Rs 100 crore in global box office collections.
Taking to social media, the makers of “Neru” expressed their gratitude, stating, “Grateful for all the love! #Neru joins the 100 crore club. Thank you to the amazing audience, cinephiles, and supporters across the globe. The dynamic trio has done it once again.”
The film, which marks the fourth collaboration between Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph, had a strong start on December 21, with an estimated opening of Rs 6 crore. Out of this, Rs 2.80 crore originated from India, primarily Kerala, as reported by the Sachnilk website.
Mohanlal, overwhelmed by the audience’s positive response on the first day, expressed his gratitude on Instagram. His post read, “Much obliged. I was humbled by all the love pouring in for #Neru. Much love and thanks for every kind word and to the wonderful team behind this success!”
The courtroom drama, earning critical acclaim, has struck gold at the box office, crossing Rs 42 crores on day 20. Our critic, rating the film 4.5 out of 5, commended Jeethu Joseph, stating, “If you are looking for a classy, massy film, no one does it better than Jeetu Joseph. He delivers something that not only gives you an adrenaline spike but also gets you emotionally invested. This could be considered even superior to the Drishyam franchise and is sure to give a pan-Indian boost to Malayalam content. Unlike Drishyam, Neru has a more realistic story and merits this. Nonetheless, it is no less massy and will appeal to all audiences.”
