Yesterday, the Punjabi film fraternity mourned the loss of Sukhminder Dhanjal’s mother, marking a somber moment for both the director and the industry at large. Taking to his social media platform, Dhanjal shared the news along with a poignant picture of his late mother, captioned with a heartfelt “Alvida Maaaaaa……”
Reports indicate that the cremation ceremonies took place at Ram Bagh Ludhiana at 1 pm earlier yesterday. The final rites were attended by close friends and family, who gathered to pay their respects to the departed soul. Actor Malkeet Rauni expressed his condolences on social media, joining others in sharing sympathies for Dhanjal’s loss.
This unfortunate event comes after Sukhminder Dhanjal faced another profound tragedy in 2020 when he lost his wife, Manpreet Dhanjal, to a cardiac arrest. The couple had shared 24 years of companionship. Reflecting on the challenging period, Sukhminder recounted to Etimes that, amidst the pandemic, he received minimal assistance as nobody came forward to help. Despite his wife not testing positive for COVID-19, he and his daughter had to independently handle the transportation of Manpreet’s body to the car. It was only with the unexpected support of two strangers that he found assistance during the cremation process.
