Netflix has secured the rights to “RIP,” a new crime thriller starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, with Joe Carnahan set to direct. The project, which has been kept tightly under wraps in terms of plot details, marks another collaboration between Damon and Affleck’s production company, Artists Equity.
The deal, reportedly finalized ahead of the Fourth of July holiday, comes after the package hit the market a couple of weeks ago. Carnahan, known for his work on crime thrillers like “Narc” and “Smokin’ Aces,” will also be handling the script.
Damon, who was the first to read the script and was reportedly impressed, brought Affleck on board quickly. This marks a reunion of sorts for the pair, who previously worked together on projects like “The Accountant.”
Artists Equity, founded by Damon and Affleck in November 2022, has been gaining momentum with recent productions like “Air” and “Small Things Like These.” Their upcoming projects include “The Instigators” for Apple and the Amazon MGM Studios film “Unstoppable.”
Both Damon and Affleck are represented by WME, while Carnahan is represented by CAA.
