In a much-anticipated release, director Salim Baba’s Malayalam film ‘Peppatty,’ featuring Shiva Damodhar, Akshara Nair, Neha Saxena, and Nelson, is set to hit theaters this Friday, January 19. Addressing the media, Salim Baba highlighted the film’s compelling message denouncing substance abuse.
The narrative centers around Peppatty Lawrence, a character recognized for his struggles with addiction. Director Salim Baba expressed the film’s mission to shed light on the escalating issue of drug abuse among the youth, aiming to provide a perspective on how addiction can disrupt not only the lives of individuals but also those around them. Describing the film as a delicate balance of emotional depth and impactful action, Baba emphasized its intriguing nature.
Lead actor Shiva Damodhar, also a skilled martial artist with a background in theatre, shared his excitement about the project. He noted that ‘Peppatty’ seamlessly combines well-choreographed action, showcasing his martial arts skills, with nuanced moments of acting, promising a blend of action, sentiments, and romance that appeals to diverse audiences.
Director Salim Baba elaborated on the ensemble cast, featuring Akshara Nair, Neha Saxena, Nelson, Sudhir Karamana, Balaji Sharma, Zeenath, and Neena Kurup in pivotal roles. Saxena’s character, Sultana, was described as a bold woman, with Kurup and Zeenath also portraying intriguing characters.
In the challenging landscape of cinema dominated by big-ticket releases and star-driven projects, Salim Baba expressed gratitude for securing over 100 theaters in Kerala for ‘Peppatty.’ He urged audiences, particularly the youth and families, to experience the film on the big screen.
Taking on multiple roles in the project, Salim Baba not only directed but also crafted the story and handled the action choreography. The screenplay and dialogue were penned by Sreemoolanagaram Ponnan.
