Director Prashanth Neel’s first Kannada venture, ‘Ugramm’, reached its 10-year milestone on February 21, 2024. Known for later directing the successful ‘KGF’ franchise featuring Yash, Prashanth reflected on the film that marked the beginning of his directorial journey. Starring Sriimurali and Hariprriya in pivotal roles, ‘Ugramm’ left a lasting impact on Prashanth, who referred to it as the greatest teacher in his career.
Despite the immense success of ‘KGF,’ Prashanth Neel expressed initial disappointment as he aspired for ‘Ugramm’ to achieve similar heights. During the making of his recent hit ‘Salaar,’ which features Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, Prashanth made significant adjustments. He credited ‘Ugramm’ with bringing about a transformative shift in the Kannada film industry, inspiring many filmmakers to break away from conventional storytelling patterns.
Notably, Prashanth Neel faced financial challenges during the production of ‘Ugramm,’ reportedly having to sell his house to fund the film. Despite difficulties in distribution, Kannada actor Darshan stepped in to support, distributing the movie under his production house. In a recent promotional video shared by Anchor Anushree on Instagram, the cast of ‘Ugramm’ joined Prashanth Neel in reminiscing about their experiences during the making of the milestone film.
