The much-anticipated film ‘Aadujeevitham’, directed by veteran filmmaker Blessy and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, has finally hit the big screens today, March 28. This release marks the culmination of a 16-year journey, particularly significant for both Blessy and Prithviraj.
Prithviraj Sukumaran recently took to social media to reminisce about the film’s beginnings. He shared a picture of the script and call sheet from the first day of the shoot, dated February 28, 2018, captioning it, “28th February 2018. Evening before Day 1 of shoot. In theatres from tomorrow 28th March 2024. #AADUJEEVITHAM #TheGoatLife.”
The film, based on Benyamin’s best-selling novel ‘Aadujeevitham’, is inspired by true events and tells the story of Najeeb, a man from Kerala who travels to the Middle East in search of a better future.
Speaking about his involvement in the project, Prithviraj Sukumaran told ETimes, “When in 2008-2009, Blessy, one of the most iconic filmmakers in Malayalam, decided to make a film out of the book and he approached me for the role, it was one of those days that I thought, ‘Okay, the fact that Blessy thought I should be doing this role’ was like a certificate for me as an actor. He thought I am the one who should be doing this because it is one of those very complex, challenging characters. But it has been a long, long journey. It’s been 16 years of ideation, making, and conception, and now we are here. It is just, I think, one of those films that were meant to be.”
Prithviraj Sukumaran’s wife, Supriya Menon, also expressed her admiration for his dedication, stating, “The dedication that you show is unparalleled and unmatched in my eyes!”
