Actress Rajshri Deshpande, known for her roles in controversial films like “S Durga” and “Angry Indian Goddesses,” has recently stirred headlines again with her performance in the Netflix series “Sacred Games.” In the series, she portrays the wife of gangster Ganesh Gaitonde, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and has garnered attention for her intimate scenes, including a notable nude scene.
However, Deshpande has also faced backlash following the release of “Sacred Games.” In a candid interview with SpotboyE, she revealed receiving lewd messages and being derogatorily labeled a “porn star” due to screenshots from her scenes circulating on social media and even appearing on adult websites.
Despite the negative attention, Deshpande remains resilient, choosing to ignore the comments and focus on her work. She expressed disappointment over the reaction but affirmed her trust in director Anurag Kashyap, who had informed her about the scene beforehand and assured her comfort.
This isn’t the first time Deshpande has faced controversy. Previously, her involvement in the film “S Durga” sparked outrage, leading to threats and derogatory remarks directed at her and her family. Despite these challenges, she continues to pursue challenging roles, including an upcoming portrayal of Ismat Chugtai in the biopic “Manto.”
Directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane, “Sacred Games” has been praised for its gripping storyline and stellar performances by Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte.
