In a recent interview, Shehzad Khan, known for his role in ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,’ shared insights into the working dynamics on the film set. Khan recalled the stark difference in punctuality between co-stars Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan.
Govinda, according to Khan, had a consistent habit of arriving 6-7 hours late, creating a sharp contrast to the reliable punctuality displayed by Amitabh Bachchan, who would regularly be present on set by 9 a.m. Khan commended director David Dhawan for skillfully managing Govinda’s tardiness without inconveniencing Amitabh Bachchan. Dhawan apparently engaged Bachchan in productive tasks during the wait.
Speaking about the director’s handling of the situation, Khan praised Dhawan’s directorial skills and humorously described the time difference between the two actors as akin to the variance between IST (Indian Standard Time) and GST (Govinda Standard Time). The actor acknowledged their roles as character artists and applauded Dhawan’s effective management of the situation.
Highlighting a pattern in Govinda’s behavior on film sets, various individuals, including Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon, advertising expert Prahlad Kakkar, and character actor Guddi Maruti, shared instances of the actor’s habitual tardiness. They disclosed that Govinda’s lateness extended beyond mere hours, sometimes even stretching to days. Khan, reiterating his experience on the set of ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,’ recently emphasized Govinda’s regular delay of 6-7 hours, underscoring the stark difference in approach compared to the punctual arrival of Amitabh Bachchan.
