In a recent interview with ‘Variety’, Rhea Kapoor, the producer of the successful female-led heist film ‘Crew’, discussed the potential for a sequel to the movie. Starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon, the film directed by Rajesh Krishnan has been performing impressively at the box office, leaving audiences and industry insiders alike curious about the possibility of a follow-up.
Rhea Kapoor admitted to feeling nervous about sequels, a sentiment shared by fellow producer Ekta Kapoor. Despite these reservations, Rhea hinted at the possibility of moving forward with a sequel, revealing, “But this is the first film where I finished the film, and a week later, my writers have messaged me and told me that they have an idea for the sequel.” She described the idea as “crazy” and acknowledged the excitement and joy surrounding ‘Crew’ as potential motivation to produce a second installment. The film’s ending, according to Rhea, leaves room for a “fun” sequel.
Ekta Kapoor chimed in, praising the on-screen chemistry among the three leading ladies, saying, “Look at these three women, they are hitting it off with each other, the chemistry is banging.”
In addition to discussing the potential ‘Crew’ sequel, Rhea Kapoor also provided updates on the sequel to her previous film, ‘Veere Di Wedding’. She described the upcoming sequel as “very special” and confirmed that it is currently in development. Rhea expressed her excitement for the project and emphasized her commitment to making the sequel a “rediscovery” of what made the original film special, promising something new and unexpected for the audience. She concluded, “I’m going to take my time and make it as special as I can. And, I’ll do it when it’s just right. Even if Ekta kills me.”
