In a recent revelation, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, riding high on the success of his latest venture ‘Animal,’ disclosed certain imperfections in the theatrical release of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer. Speaking with film trade analyst Komal Nahta, Vanga discussed his dissatisfaction with aspects of the film and his plans to rectify them for the upcoming OTT version.
During the conversation, Vanga highlighted discrepancies in the song, makeup inconsistencies, and costume issues in certain scenes upon his initial viewing of the film. Addressing content concerns, he cited sound quality challenges, particularly in managing releases in five different languages. Vanga reflected on the chaotic final 20 days of the project, recounting struggles with sound checks in Chennai and expressing regret over not dedicating more time to resolve these challenges.
Delving into the rectification process for the OTT adaptation, Vanga shared his active involvement in editing, addressing issues identified in 1-2 shots by incorporating different takes, including a few additional shots from the same sequence. He expressed regret over the decision to trim the original runtime from 3 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours and 21 minutes, citing uncertainty about why those 8-9 minutes were cut. Vanga confirmed his intention to restore 5-6 minutes in the revised version.
The film, featuring Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Charu Shankar, Triptii Dimri, and others, has been making waves at the box office with record-breaking business.
