New York City native Steve Buscemi, aged 66, has become the latest victim of a random assault on the streets of New York City. According to reports from the New York Post, the incident occurred while Buscemi was walking in the Kips Bay neighborhood on Manhattan’s East side last week.
During the broad-daylight attack, a man approached Buscemi and struck him. This assault adds to a string of similar incidents involving celebrities in recent years. Notable figures such as comic actor Rick Moranis, Michael Stuhlbarg (known for his role alongside Buscemi in the show “Boardwalk Empire”), and reality star Bethenny Frankel have also fallen victim to such attacks.
As a result of the assault, Buscemi sustained injuries to his left eye and face, resulting in swelling. He was subsequently taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. The assailant fled the scene and is currently being sought by authorities.
In a statement provided to The Post, Buscemi’s publicist confirmed the incident, expressing gratitude for the well-wishes received while lamenting the prevalence of such violence in the city. The assault occurred at approximately 11:48 a.m. on Wednesday in front of 369 Third Ave, as reported by law enforcement.
Buscemi, known for his distinguished career in film and television, has appeared in acclaimed productions such as “Fargo,” “Reservoir Dogs,” “The Sopranos,” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” among others.
