Veteran actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who gained popularity in the 90s, is often remembered for her iconic role as ‘Anna’ in the film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan. As Khan’s stardom continues to soar, it’s unsurprising that Krishnamoorthi frequently finds herself fielding questions about him. However, in a recent interview with ‘Mid-day’, the actress confessed her weariness over the recurring inquiries, stating, “It’s tiring, frankly. But unavoidable.”
In the same interview, Krishnamoorthi discussed her collaboration with Randhir Ranjan Roy on the play ‘Ek Haan’, which was showcased at the Experimental Theatre, NCPA. She shared her journey from initial skepticism, due to the script being in Urdu, to profound satisfaction with the project. Despite her initial reluctance, Roy’s persistence and her eventual involvement led her to a deeper appreciation of literature, particularly focusing on the pre and post-partition era of India. Krishnamoorthi emphasized the importance of increased audience engagement and media awareness to enhance its economic viability.
Acknowledging the significance of social media in creating stars and livelihoods for many, Krishnamoorthi admitted to struggling with her own Instagram presence, describing it as lackluster. She also criticized the prevailing paparazzi culture, highlighting the illogical nature of staged airport appearances by actors, deeming it exaggerated and unnecessary.
Despite her early success, Krishnamoorthi maintains a selective approach to her projects, prioritizing artistic fulfillment over fame. She expressed, “I enjoy my work, but fame is intrusive. I wish for anonymity outside the workplace, but that’s impossible in the performing arts.”
Recently, Krishnamoorthi was last seen in the TV series ‘Braveheart’.
