In a recent turn of events, acclaimed Kollywood director Sudha Kongara, known for her successful ventures, is gearing up for her Bollywood debut with the Hindi remake of ‘Soorarai Pottru.’ The director made headlines following producer Gnanavel Raja’s statements about her alleged criticisms of the Tamil film ‘Raam.’ Kongara took to social media to set the record straight.
Gnanavel Raja claimed that after the release of ‘Raam,’ he, along with actor Karthi, watched the film with Sudha Kongara, who reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the movie. In response to these allegations, the director posted a note on social media to address the situation.
Disputing the producer’s claims, Sudha Kongara defended her stance, emphasizing the significance of Muthazhagu’s character from ‘Paruthiveeran’ as one of the greatest female characters ever written by a man. She further disclosed that she had recommended her female leads, Ritika Singh and Aparna Balamurali from ‘Irudhi Suttru’ and ‘Soorarai Pottru,’ respectively, to watch ‘Paruthiveeran’ as a reference in homage to director Ameer.
Sudha Kongara’s tweet dated February 2, 2016, highlighted her conversation with Ameer Anna, praising her work in ‘Irudhi Suttru.’ She clarified that her character Madhi was inspired by Muthazhagu and emphasized the profound impact of the character, making it a crucial reference for her actresses. Kongara concluded her statement, expressing her homage to Ameer as a master filmmaker in Tamil cinema.
