In a recent announcement, producers have officially launched the spinoff of ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ introducing ‘The Golden Bachelorette,’ set to premiere this fall, as reported by Variety. The network also confirmed the renewal of ‘The Bachelorette,’ scheduled to air during the summer season.
ABC has plans for the return of ‘Dancing With the Stars’ this fall, with insiders strongly suggesting a Season 33 comeback, though an official renewal is yet to be confirmed.
Gerry Turner, aged 72, took the lead in the inaugural season of ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ attracting a massive audience of 43.4 million viewers and earning the title of ABC’s most-watched unscripted premiere on Hulu.
Filming for the season took place over a span of four weeks in August, culminating in a December finale where Turner proposed to Theresa Nist. The episode drew 6.1 million viewers, marking the highest viewership in almost three years. The couple tied the knot on January 4, a little over four months after their engagement. The Palm Springs wedding, officiated by contestant Susan Noles, was broadcast live on ABC.
While the lead for ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ is yet to be revealed, executive producer Jason Ehrlich expressed excitement about the possibility of selecting from the pool of candidates from Turner’s season, including Leslie Fhima and Faith Martin, the last two contestants eliminated.
During a Variety panel in December, Ehrlich stated, “There are so many incredible women from this season. That would be really hard not to [pick from]. There are just so many, and you can picture what that would look like in several different ways, and it’s all exciting and fun.”
Fans have been buzzing with curiosity about the bachelorette selection, with speculations even reaching Surbhi Chandna, who hinted at celebrating “couples honeymoon.” However, no official announcement has been made regarding the lead for the upcoming season.
Both ‘The Bachelorette’ and ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ are produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television and Warner Horizon. Currently, Season 28 of ‘The Bachelor’ is underway on ABC.
