Actor Vikrant Massey, currently basking in the success of his latest release ’12 Fail,’ provided a glimpse into his diverse family dynamics during an interaction with Unfiltered by Samdish. Massey, who himself identifies with Hinduism, shared insights into his family’s religious background, showcasing a mosaic of faiths.
Born to a Sikh mother and a committed Christian father, Massey disclosed that his family experienced numerous discussions and debates centered around religion and spirituality during his upbringing. Notably, his brother Moeen converted to Islam at the age of 17, a decision supported by their family. Massey recalled his father’s response to extended relatives questioning the acceptance of his son’s conversion: “He is my son, he is only answerable to me and has all the rights to choose what he wants.”
Reflecting on his own journey, Massey pondered the concept of religion, asserting that it is man-made. He emphasized the significance of personal choice in matters of faith.
The ’12th Fail’ actor, who recently became a father with his wife Sheetal Thakur, expressed their intention as a couple to instill rationalism in their baby boy. While acknowledging his cultural ties, Massey clarified that his beliefs are rooted in cultural affiliation rather than strict religious adherence. He mentioned celebrating Hindu festivals like Diwali as a reflection of his cultural and childhood memories.
In the broader context, Massey highlighted that such cultural diversity is emblematic of the majority of people in the country. He added that celebrating festivals like Diwali is a manifestation of his cultural muscle memory, emphasizing the uniqueness of these traditions in India.
