In anticipation of the momentous inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, preparations are underway for a grand event. Vindu Dara Singh, currently portraying the role of Hanuman in Puneet Issar’s show, recently reminisced about his experiences at the temple in an exclusive interview with ETimes.
Interestingly, Vindu had visited Ayodhya in 2019 when the Ram Lalla Temple was still under construction. When asked about attending the consecration ceremony on January 22, he mentioned a scheduling conflict due to their Mumbai-based show, ‘Jai Shri Ram,’ directed by Puneet Issar. However, Vindu assured that the performance would be staged in Ayodhya, having already discussed the details with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Expressing admiration for the transformation of Ayodhya, Vindu stated, “Today, Yogiji has transformed the place, and this temple town is going to be more attractive than Rome and the Vatican City.” Despite missing the January 22 event, Vindu believes he has already received Lord Rama’s blessings by paying his respects at the temple.
Recounting a unique story about the temple’s location, Vindu shared details about Saryu Mata, a cow near the temple, believed to take 108 ‘parikrama’ every day. He emphasized that he had prayed at the spot long before the rest of the world.
Highlighting Ayodhya’s significance beyond the Ram Temple, Vindu mentioned meeting Champat Rai, in charge of the temple’s schedule. According to him, while the ground floor with Ram Lalla is ready, construction will continue for an extended period.
Vindu also shared intriguing stories about Ayodhya, mentioning a tree with ‘Ram’ written on it, believed to be the spot where Lord Hanuman was hit by Bharat’s arrow, with a portion of the sanjeevani booti falling to the ground.
As the son of legendary actor Dara Singh, who portrayed Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan,’ Vindu expressed a wish that his father could have witnessed this special time, concluding, “He would have been very happy today.”
