In a recent revelation, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, renowned for his debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Company,’ continues to receive immense love for his romantic film ‘Saathiya’ alongside Rani Mukerji. Despite the enduring admiration for the film’s music and the on-screen chemistry between Vivek and Rani, the actor disclosed facing challenging situations during its shoot due to budget constraints.
During an interview with Humans of Bombay, Vivek shared that despite warnings against taking on the film, given his previous roles in action movies, he chose to pursue ‘Saathiya’ out of love for the script. His mentor, Ram Gopal Varma, had advised against it, but Vivek was determined to take on the unique project. He expressed, “I loved the film. Saathiya’s director Shaad Ali is my school friend. He was initially making the film with Abhishek Bachchan but that didn’t work out. I already had my debut film, Company.”
As the shoot progressed, Vivek revealed the challenging circumstances they faced. With ‘Company’ yet to be released, he found himself shooting in adverse conditions, including sleeping on benches due to budget constraints. The actor even shared instances of changing clothes in restaurant toilets, highlighting the lack of a makeup van during the shoot. The demanding schedule required them to film four scenes a day, working tirelessly for 18-20 hours.
However, Vivek’s fortunes took a turn after the release of ‘Company.’ He reminisced about an incident on the sets of ‘Saathiya’ when people recognized him as ‘Chandu Bhai’ post the success of ‘Company.’ The sudden surge of attention prompted the actor to leave the shoot location in a police van, marking a significant shift in his career trajectory.
