Renowned actor Shah Rukh Khan’s close friend, Vivek Vaswani, recently opened up about a pivotal moment in the superstar’s life. In a candid interview with Siddharth Kanan, Vaswani revealed that back in 1990, when Shah Rukh was still a newcomer to Mumbai, he confided in Vaswani about his mother’s deteriorating health.
The two friends visited Gehlot near Church Road, where they shared a meal of butter chicken and naan. It was during this intimate setting that Shah Rukh disclosed the challenging situation regarding his mother’s organ failure. Recollecting their conversation while sitting on Marine Drive, Vaswani spoke about the efforts made to support Shah Rukh during this tough time.
Vaswani shared details of procuring expensive medicines in Mumbai and arranging for their delivery to Delhi through Raman, a mutual friend and pilot. Unfortunately, despite their collective efforts, Shah Rukh’s mother, Lateef Fatima Khan, succumbed to her illness in 1991.
Following her passing, Vaswani traveled to Delhi to be with Shah Rukh during the grieving period. He stayed at Shah Rukh’s house, offering support and solidarity. During this time, Shah Rukh expressed his aspiration to pursue a career in films, a departure from his initial interest in television roles. He conveyed that his mother had envisioned him becoming a superstar, which became a driving force behind his shift towards the film industry.
In a separate interview with Simi Grewal, Shah Rukh Khan reflected on his mother’s demise. Despite not being someone who regularly prayed, Shah Rukh found himself praying in the hospital parking lot during his mother’s ICU struggle. He candidly shared the emotional toll her death took on him, expressing his unpreparedness and the guidance he received to pray 6000 times to alleviate her pain.
Vivek Vaswani’s revelation sheds light on the personal struggles and pivotal moments in Shah Rukh Khan’s life, offering fans a deeper understanding of the actor’s journey in the industry.
