In the run-up to the much-anticipated release of Vineeth Sreenivasan’s star-studded directorial venture, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham,’ attention has turned to the film’s music. Despite high expectations, the unveiled songs have not gained significant traction with audiences.
Vineeth Sreenivasan, the director and actor, recently spoke to Leafy Stories about the deliberate strategy behind this muted response. He revealed that he had instructed the music composer, Amrit, to avoid creating songs with the aim of going viral or setting trends. Sreenivasan emphasized his desire for the soundtrack to forge an emotional connection with audiences rather than seeking fleeting online popularity.
Discussing a specific example, Sreenivasan pointed to the song ‘Thiruvaavaniraavu’ and its initial reception on YouTube, which garnered a modest 35,000 views. He contrasted this with the success of the music from his previous film, ‘Thattathin Marayathu,’ which enjoyed substantial online traction. Despite acknowledging the quality of ‘Thiruvaavaniraavu,’ Sreenivasan expressed confusion over its relatively low view count.
However, Sreenivasan remained optimistic, noting that ‘Thiruvaavaniraavu’ eventually gained momentum after the movie’s release. He believes that the songs of ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ will follow a similar trajectory, resonating more deeply with audiences when experienced in the theaters rather than aiming to create trends on social media.
Featuring a star-studded cast including Dhyan Sreenivasan, Pranav Mohanlal, and Kalyani Priyadarshan, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the year.
