In a much-anticipated development for anime enthusiasts, the television adaptation of Fujino Ōmori and Toshi Aoi’s manga, “Wistoria: Wand and Sword” (Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria), has been officially slated for release in July 2024. The excitement surrounding this announcement is further heightened by the unveiling of the anime’s official website, complete with a captivating promotional video, striking visuals, and an introduction to the talented cast and crew driving the project.
Taking the helm of this animated venture is Tatsuya Yoshihara, renowned for his role as the action director for “Chainsaw Man.” The anime is a collaborative effort between Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures, with character design and chief animation direction expertly handled by Sayaka Ono, known for “CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon.” Yuki Hayashi, celebrated for his work on “My Hero Academia,” is entrusted with the musical score, produced by Lantis.
The creative team features additional talents, including Raita Sunaga, Yoshirou Harada, and Ryou Akizuki for monster design, Ryou Akizuki for prop design, Naomi Nakano for color design, Yuki Maeda as the art director, Studio Easter for art, Ayako Otsuki as the director of photography, animocaramel for photography, Morihito Abe as the CG director, Masato Yoshitake as the editor, Hiroto Morishita as the sound director, and Jinnan Studio for sound production.

Fujino Ōmori and Toshi Aoi initially introduced the manga in Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in December 2020. The ninth compiled volume, published by Kodansha, recently hit shelves. For English-speaking audiences, Kodansha USA Publishing has been delivering the manga, with the sixth volume available since September 12.
Ōmori, known for creating the popular “Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” light novel series, has achieved significant success, leading to four television anime seasons. “Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darō ka IV Shinshō Yakusai-hen” (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV Late Arc: Disaster) debuted in January 2023, with a confirmed fifth season on the horizon.
In North America, Yen Press serves as the primary source for both Fujino Ōmori and Suzuhito Yasuda’s original novel series and the Sword Oratoria spinoff novels, along with their respective manga adaptations.
