Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth recently garnered attention for her generous donation of ₹10 lakh to the Tamil Film Directors’ Union. In a conversation with us, she revealed her plans to contribute ₹5 lakh every six months to the union, specifically aimed at supporting the education of assistant directors’ children.
Aishwaryaa explained her motivation for this contribution, stating that several assistant directors working with her were struggling to finance their children’s education due to limited income while waiting for their next projects. She mentioned, “I was helping them in whatever ways I possibly could. Maybe the news spread, and I started receiving calls from other ADs. I was uncertain whether these calls were legitimate, so I thought the right course of action would be to reach out to the Directors’ Union.”
In addition to her charitable efforts, Aishwaryaa addressed speculation surrounding the release of Lal Salaam on OTT platforms. She announced that an extended director’s cut of the film would soon be available, distinct from the theatrical version. “We were able to retrieve some of the film’s lost footage, which has been added to this cut,” she stated. Aishwaryaa emphasized her commitment to ensuring that the extended version aligns with the original vision of the film.
Furthermore, she shared that renowned composer AR Rahman expressed a desire to rescore the extended cut without asking for additional remuneration.
