Fashion designer Divya Aggarwal, who has been a part of the fashion industry for over six years and managing her own label for the past year and a half, is making waves with her unconventional designs. She believes people should not shy away from trying new designers and recently launched a line catering to bridesmaids’ wear, blending traditional and modern designs.
Impressed by the Bollywood wedding scenes where actresses are choosing atypical colors for bridal wear, Divya encourages people to be more open to trying new designers. She said, “I really appreciate the trend where celeb brides have opted for muted pink when it came to their wedding trousseaus. It’s something very atypical. Because in India bridalwear has always traditionally been interpreted in the color red. Now everyone is opting for the pinks and pastels, like Parineeti Chopra, Rakul Preet Singh, and Kiara Advani.”
She added, “Like this welcome change, one more change I would like to see is that they should be more open to trying out new designers. Yes, there are a few designers who have carved out a name in the fashion industry. Now a lot of designers are taking inspiration from the newer designers that are coming up. I feel like a lot of people should give craftsmanship a take more than a name (label).”
When asked about which Bollywood actress she would like to design wedding outfits for, Divya named Janhvi Kapoor. “When it comes to the wedding trousseau, I would like to design Janhvi Kapoor’s. She has a vibrant personality. She has a very peculiar taste. She doesn’t want to stand out, but at the same time, she wants to be the center of attention. So, it will be interesting to design something for her. For mehendi, I would have loved to design an outfit for Kiara Advani. She’s someone who I feel prioritizes comfort first than going OTT with her outfit. For her, I could pair up a drape skirt with a drape blouse… which gives the modern flair of a lehenga but at the same time offers comfort to move around.”
Speaking about sangeet outfits, Divya said, “A sangeet night is where you can pull off a glam saree or a glam lehenga and look sexy. I could imagine doing it for Deepika Padukone. She’s tall and stunning and can easily carry off a heavily draped saree.”
In other news, on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, Madhuri Dixit Nene shared her optimism for the future, saying, “It’s a day to look ahead with an optimistic vibe.”
