In a recent event, Bollywood veteran Gulshan Grover shared his experience of watching the highly anticipated web series ‘Heeramandi’ alongside one of its leading actors, Manisha Koirala. The series marks Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut in the digital realm and was released on Wednesday to much anticipation.
Grover, known for his portrayal of negative roles on screen, took to social media to express his admiration for Koirala’s performance in the series. Posting a picture and a video of his family cheering for Koirala while watching the show at her home, Grover praised her, stating, “Manisha you are FABULOUS & a BADGIRL ! Son Sanjay & me wishing super success to everyone”. The viewing party also included actor Vivek Mushran from the iconic film ‘Saudagar’.
‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ boasts a star-studded cast including Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Sehgal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, portraying the roles of tawaifs. Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman play the roles of the Nawabs in the series.
Set against the backdrop of the Indian Independence struggle in the 1940s, ‘Heeramandi’ delves into the cultural reality of the namesake area, portraying a time when mistresses held power as rulers. The series offers a unique glimpse into the intriguing world of Heera Mandi, exploring the stories and relationships of its characters with clients.
Gulshan Grover and Manisha Koirala have both left indelible marks on the Indian film industry with their remarkable performances.
