Renowned actor Rakshit Shetty, known for his roles on the silver screen, revealed a lesser-known facet of his life, showcasing a deep connection to spirituality and cultural exploration. Despite his usual reluctance to attend public events, Shetty enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to partake in cultural and artistic programs.
The actor recently attended the 555th show of “Shivadootha Guliga,” a Tulu drama rooted in Tulunadu’s profound belief in the demi god. Reflecting on his decision to attend the event in Mangaluru, Shetty shared, “When I received the invite, I didn’t think twice. Having grown up in Udupi, attending kolas and daiva worship was part of our life.”
Hailing from a cultural backdrop where an annual bhootha kola at his ancestral home left a lasting impression on him as a child, Shetty emphasized the significance of daivas, stating, “Daivas are not just a belief but a celebration of our land and its culture.” He recounted his teenage years as a turning point when he delved into spiritual literature, gaining a deeper understanding of these cultural traditions.
In the fast-paced digital era, Shetty believes it is crucial to take a step back and pay homage to culture, heritage, and art. He expressed, “For me, spiritual pursuits and cinema are one entity. What I read, see, and feel is what reflects in my cinema.”
Rakshit Shetty’s unique blend of spiritual exploration and cinematic endeavors underscores the importance of preserving cultural roots in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
