Actor Jai, nephew of renowned actors Vijay Raghavendra and Sriimurali, is poised to make his debut in Sandalwood with the film “Grey Games.” In his first big-screen venture, Jai portrays the character of Abhi, a young professional gamer with a rebellious streak and a gaming addiction. He finds himself entangled in a virtual romance, navigating the complexities of love across parallel universes.
“I play the role of a young professional gamer called Abhi, who is rebellious and addicted to gaming. He falls in love with a girl in the metaverse. For a 20-year-old to connect to someone who exists elsewhere and the complications that come up due to changes in this parallel universe, is nothing short of mind-boggling,” shares Jai, who brings over a year of theatre training to his performance.
To prepare for his role, Jai delved into the world of gaming tournaments, studying the body language and mannerisms of gaming enthusiasts. With prior gaming experience, he found it relatively easy to inhabit the character’s gaming persona. However, it was the guidance on emotional nuances from director Gangadhar that helped him confidently face the camera.
“Working on the emotional aspects for my character in the movie, based on the tips of director Gangadhar, helped me face the camera without any sort of nervousness,” Jai concludes.
Jai’s journey into the realm of Sandalwood promises an immersive portrayal of a character grappling with the intersections of reality and virtuality, under the direction of Gangadhar.
