The Malayalam survival thriller “Manjummel Boys” has received widespread acclaim from various quarters following its theatrical release on February 22. Now available for streaming on OTT platforms since May 5, the film has garnered further praise, this time from actor Sobhita Dhulipala.
Taking to her Instagram account on May 6, Sobhita shared the poster of Chidambaram S Poduval’s “Manjummel Boys” and expressed her admiration after watching the movie. Captioning the picture, she wrote, “Mind Blown from Manjummel Boys” (accompanied by folded hands and wonder-eye emojis). She described the film as a “sensory roller coaster” and commended director Chidambaram S Poduval, saying, “Take a bow! Chidambaram S Poduval, WOW.” She also praised the efforts of music director Sushin Shyam, actor-producer Soubin Shahir, and DOP actor Shyju Khalid, calling them “truly incredible.”
“Manjummel Boys” had previously received positive reviews from notable figures including Kamal Haasan, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Sivakarthikeyan, Siddharth, Chiyaan Vikram, Vignesh Shivan, and Nayanthara. The film has crossed Rs 250 crore in total earnings and has emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2024. It has also found success in Tamil Nadu, attributed partly to its reference to Kamal Haasan’s 1991 movie “Gunaa.”
Based on a real-life incident that occurred in 2006 involving a group of youngsters during their trip to Kodaikanal and the Guna cave, “Manjummel Boys” boasts an ensemble cast including Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, and Shebin Benson.
