Malayalam horror drama ‘Udal,’ directed by Ratheesh Raghunandan, is gearing up for its digital premiere on the Saina Play OTT platform. Starring Dhyan Sreenivasan as Kiran, Indrans as Kuttichayan, and Durga Krishna as Shyni, the film initially hit theaters on May 20, 2022, and will now be available for streaming starting January 5.
The narrative revolves around Shyni, who shoulders the responsibility of caring for her bedridden mother-in-law alongside her father-in-law, Kuttichayan, while her husband is away for work. Kiran becomes her primary companion, but an unexpected incident during one of his visits drastically alters the household’s atmosphere.
Indrans delivered a compelling performance as Kuttichaayan, Dhyan Sreenivasan portrayed Kiran, and Durga Krishna brought life to the character of Shiny Chacko. The film’s immersive experience is enhanced by Manoj Pillai’s cinematography, Nishad Yusuf’s editing finesse, and William Francis’s mesmerizing music. ‘Udal’ performed well at the box office.
Excitement is building as reports suggest a potential Hindi remake of ‘Udal,’ featuring veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah in the role originally played by Indrans. Director Ratheesh Raghunandan is expected to helm this Bollywood adaptation. Further details about the Hindi remake are anticipated to be unveiled soon by the makers.
