In a triumphant journey that began with a premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival, Kanu Behl’s acclaimed film ‘Agra’ continues to garner accolades at prestigious venues worldwide. Following successful screenings at the 28th Busan International Film Festival and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, the film is now poised to captivate audiences at the upcoming International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Scheduled for screenings at three different venues, ‘Agra’ will unfold its narrative at Tagore Theatre on December 9 at 6 pm, New Theatre on December 11 at 11:30 am, and Kairali Complex on December 14 at 11:30 am.
Featuring Rahul Roy in a remarkable comeback alongside Priyanka Bose, Mohit Agarwal, Ruhani Sharma, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha, and Aanchal Goswami, ‘Agra’ has been hailed by critics as a profound exploration of sexual repression and the quest for breathing space within dysfunctional family dynamics.
Renowned director Kanu Behl, known for his debut film ‘Titli,’ expresses his admiration for Malayalam cinema, stating, “What I love about Malayalam cinema is that it dares to tell very complex stories, and I hope the audience here will like ‘Agra’ as well.” Reflecting on the global reception of the film, Behl notes the universal connection viewers have forged with its characters despite the unfamiliar cultural backdrop.
The 28th edition of IFFK is set to kick off in Thiruvananthapuram on December 8, promising a week-long cinematic extravaganza across 15 venues, featuring nearly 175 films from 81 countries worldwide. Co-written by Kanu Behl and Atika Chohan, ‘Agra’ stands as a testament to Behl’s commitment to groundbreaking narratives and bold explorations of the human psyche. Behl shares, “There is so much joy when what you believed to be personal becomes universal.”
As ‘Agra’ takes center stage at IFFK, cinephiles can anticipate an immersive experience delving into the intricate layers of the human experience.
