Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan celebrates her 76th birthday today, and fans are pouring their love for her on social media. Known for her iconic roles in Hindi cinema classics like ‘Sholay’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Parichay’, ‘Bawarchi’, ‘Kora Kaagaz’, and ‘Abhimaan’, Jaya Bachchan has left an indelible mark on the industry.
On this special occasion, memories resurface of the time when her son, Abhishek Bachchan, described himself as her carbon copy. Despite the frequent comparisons of Abhishek to his father, Amitabh Bachchan, due to his acting style, Abhishek believes he shares more similarities with his mother.
In a recent interview with ETimes for their film ‘Ghoomer’, director R Balki and actress Saiyami Kher shared their insights on Abhishek’s acting prowess. Balki remarked, “I think Abhishek is highly distinctive. Being Amitabh Bachchan’s son and being so different from him is almost an impossibility. Abhishek is very modern, he has a different personality. There’s intensity but intensity with a smile. There are very few actors like him I’ve seen.”
Responding to Balki’s comments, Abhishek said, “I think I’m more like my mother, instead of my father. My style and everything.” Balki further added, “He’s very natural, very candid, very easy.”
When asked about his physical resemblance to his mother, Abhishek candidly affirmed, “Yeah, yeah, I look like my mom only. I’m a carbon copy of my mom.”
