Filmmaker Kiran Rao, currently basking in the success of her latest release ‘Laapataa Ladies’, recently opened up about her bond with actor Aamir Khan during the filming of ‘Swades’. In a candid interview with NDTV, Rao disclosed that Khan, known for his roles in movies like ‘Ghajini’, has never been a big film enthusiast. She mentioned that even in his younger days, he preferred reading over watching movies.
Rao further elaborated on their bond, stating that Aamir’s humor played a significant role in bringing them closer. She emphasized that they often connected over issues that mattered to them as individuals, especially social concerns. This mutual connection also extended to sharing stories they both felt were important.
Interestingly, when it comes to their son Azaad Rao, the couple has been trying to cultivate an interest in movies. However, it seems Azaad leans more towards anime and other types of content over traditional films. Despite this, Kiran revealed that Azaad enjoyed watching ‘Laapataa Ladies’, although he needed some persuasion to attend the film’s premiere.
For those unfamiliar with their personal history, Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan tied the knot in 2005 but announced their separation in 2021. Nevertheless, they continue to collaborate and co-parent their son Azaad.
