Actor Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated period sports drama ‘Maidaan’ is gearing up for its release on April 11. The ‘Drishyam’ star was recently spotted at a theatre in Juhu for a preview screening of the film. A video capturing Ajay Devgn’s arrival has gone viral on social media platforms. In the video, he looked stylish in his casual attire as he made his way towards the theatre.
Speaking to news agency PTI, director Amit Sharma praised Ajay’s professionalism and dedication to his role. “If a superstar has agreed to do a film, it’s an advantage as the mounting of a film will become bigger…When Ajay Devgn used to enter the sets, he used to keep the Ajay Devgn persona outside, and enter like Syed Abdul Rahim, his character. He came prepped on sets with his dialogues. Not once he said, ‘The trousers are loose, how am I looking?’ He would be like, ‘Tell me what you want me to do, I’ll do it’. He is a director’s actor,” Sharma said.
For those unfamiliar with the film, ‘Maidaan’ delves into the golden years of Indian football in the early 1950s and 60s under the guidance of coach Syed Abdul Rahim. In this Amit Sharma-directed film, Ajay Devgn takes on the pivotal role of the coach. The cast also includes Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh.
