In a highly anticipated release, Sivakarthikeyan’s latest film, ‘Ayalaan,’ hit the big screens on January 12. The science fiction flick, which had been in the making for over four years, received an enthusiastic reception on its opening day. Beginning with regular morning shows, the film garnered positive reviews, providing a strong start to its box office journey.
Despite facing challenges with limited releases outside Tamil Nadu, ‘Ayalaan’ managed to amass approximately Rs 13 crore worldwide on its opening day. While enjoying solid occupancy during morning shows, the film experienced a slowdown later in the day. In Tamil Nadu alone, ‘Ayalaan’ reportedly earned between Rs 7 to 8 crore on the first day.
The film’s overseas collections contributed significantly to its decent start, even as it faced stiff competition from other releases like Dhanush’s ‘Captain Miller’ and Arun Vijay’s ‘Mission: Chapter 1.’ ‘Ayalaan’ secured the second spot at the box office, trailing behind Dhanush’s film by the end of day 1.
Despite the initial variations in box office performance, the reservations for ‘Ayalaan’ in the upcoming days appear promising. With positive word of mouth and solid advance bookings, the film is expected to witness a surge in numbers in the coming days.
Directed by Ravikumar, ‘Ayalaan’ stars Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh in pivotal roles, with the added charm of a comical alien character. The film’s musical score is crafted by AR Rahman, and Nirav Shah handled the cinematography duties.
