In its eleventh day since release on Sunday, April 21, 2024, the Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan starrer ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ has raked in a net collection of Rs 2.80 crore in India, bringing its total domestic earnings to an impressive Rs 28.65 crore. Globally, the film has accumulated Rs 58 crore in just eleven days.
Directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, the movie also features an ensemble cast including Aju Varghese, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Basil Joseph, Neeraj Madhav, and Nivin Pauly. The film’s overseas performance has been noteworthy, garnering Rs 28 crore from international markets.
‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ is a narrative that spans about 50 years, revolving around the theme of missed opportunities and friendship. ETimes gave the film a rating of 3 out of 5, stating, “Almost 20 years after Mohanlal and Sreenivasan collaborated on ‘Udayananu Tharam’, their sons have come together in a film with a similar theme but a different feel. Vineeth Sreenivasan’s direction, while rich in in-jokes and references to the industry and its stalwarts, falls short in terms of a smooth flow in the script. The absence of prominent female characters is also a missed opportunity in what was anticipated to be a more engaging and moving film.”
The film has caught the attention of audiences and critics alike, prompting discussions about the possibility of a sequel to ‘Thira’, a previous venture of Vineeth Sreenivasan.
