In the latest developments at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan’s recently released film, “Dunki,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, continues to exhibit a robust performance. The movie, featuring a star-studded cast including Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, and others, has experienced its share of fluctuations within the first 12 days since hitting the screens. Despite the ups and downs, “Dunki” showcased a commendable performance on New Year’s Eve.
According to reports from Sacnilk, “Dunki” maintained an overall 30 percent occupancy on its second Monday, with footfalls gradually increasing from morning to night shows. Early estimates suggest that the film is poised to earn a noteworthy Rs 9.25 crore on this particular day, contributing to a cumulative box office collection of Rs 196.97 crore.
Facing a tough clash with Prabhas’ highly-anticipated release, “Salaar,” “Dunki” encountered significant competition as both films vied for audience attention and box office supremacy. Despite the challenges, Shah Rukh Khan’s film has managed to stand tall and make its mark.
Notably, in North America, “Dunki” is giving a stiff competition to “Salaar,” trailing by just 1 million dollars in box office earnings.
The film, a captivating saga of friendships, borders, nostalgia for home, and love, marks Shah Rukh Khan’s third and final release of 2023, following the success of back-to-back action blockbusters, “Pathaan” and “Jawan.” Centered around the illegal immigration technique known as ‘donkey flight,’ “Dunki” is a comedy-drama crafted by the creative minds of Hirani, Abhijaat Joshi, and Kanika Dhillon.
