Actress Janhvi Kapoor recently opened up about a deeply emotional moment she experienced while promoting her debut film ‘Dhadak’ shortly after the passing of her mother, the legendary actress Sridevi. Speaking to Mashable India, Kapoor revealed that she had a panic attack on the set of a dance reality show when they unexpectedly played a tribute video in memory of Sridevi.
Despite efforts from her team to shield her from any reminders of her mother’s loss, Kapoor was caught off guard when the producers of the show did not inform her about the tribute beforehand. Children began dancing to the video, triggering an overwhelming emotional response from Kapoor, who found herself unable to breathe and began crying and howling. She rushed to her van to cope with the panic attack.
While Kapoor acknowledged the beauty of the tribute, she emphasized that she was not emotionally prepared for it. Portions of her reaction were aired on the show, but the producers later removed these clips.
Kapoor also addressed criticism she faced following Sridevi’s passing, with some accusing her of not publicly discussing her late mother enough or showing enough emotion. Sridevi passed away in February 2019 in Dubai at the age of 54, just months before the release of ‘Dhadak’ in July.
Currently, Janhvi Kapoor is actively involved in promoting her upcoming film ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’ alongside co-star Rajkummar Rao.
