Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges is confirmed to reprise his role in the highly anticipated third installment of the ‘Tron’ franchise, titled ‘Tron: Ares’. Bridges, 74, disclosed this information during an episode of the ‘Film Comment’ podcast. Directed by Joachim Ronning and starring Jared Leto, the film marks Bridges’ return to the beloved sci-fi series after his appearances in the previous two films.
In the original 1982 film, Bridges portrayed Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer transported into a digital world. The franchise continued with the 2010 sequel ‘Tron: Legacy’, where Bridges reprised his role alongside newcomers Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde.
‘Tron: Ares’ sees Leto taking on the role of Ares, a sentient program crossing over into the human realm. Other notable cast members include Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Gillian Anderson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Sarah Desjardins.
While Bridges’ return is confirmed, it remains unclear whether he will reprise any of his previous ‘Tron’ roles. Nevertheless, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of this latest installment in the beloved franchise.
