In a startling turn of events, Jose Thomas, a key producer associated with Nivin Pauly’s film ‘Thuramukham,’ has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a financial fraud amounting to Rs 8.4 crores. The arrest, carried out by District Crime Branch ACP Manoj Kumar, occurred at Thomas’s residence in Patturaikkal on the last day.
As reported by the Janam website, the 42-year-old producer is facing serious accusations of orchestrating a financial scam by purportedly fabricating documents to secure funds for the production of ‘Thuramukham.’
The complainant, identified as Gilbert, claims that Jose Thomas, through deceptive means, managed to obtain a substantial sum of Rs 8 crores and Rs 40 lakhs for the film’s production but failed to fulfill the promised repayment.
According to sources, Thomas allegedly resorted to fraudulent practices, including the creation of fake profiles and documents in the names of five individuals, all in the guise of legitimate business dealings to secure the funds. Initially under the jurisdiction of the East Police, the case has been subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
Meanwhile, ‘Thuramukham,’ directed by the renowned Rajeev Ravi, has faced multiple delays, making it one of the most protracted projects in the Malayalam film industry. Unfortunately, despite the anticipation surrounding the film, it failed to meet expectations and turned out to be an unsuccessful venture.
