In a significant development, iconic South Indian actor Rajinikanth embarked on a journey from Chennai to Ayodhya on this day, January 21. The purpose of his visit is to attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple, scheduled to take place in Ayodhya on January 22.
The inauguration ceremony of the grand Ram Temple, situated in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, is set to witness the placement of the statue of Lord Rama in the sanctum sanctorum at 12:20 noon. The event has garnered widespread attention, with political leaders from various Indian parties and notable figures from the fields of cinema and sports receiving invitations to participate.
The administrators of the Ayodhya – Sri Rama Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra had previously extended an invitation to Rajinikanth during their meeting at the actor’s residence a few days ago. Following this invitation, Rajinikanth, adorned in a green T-shirt and black pants, expressed his happiness at attending the historic Ramajanma Bhoomi event. During a brief interaction with the press and media at Chennai airport, he maintained brevity in his responses to avoid controversy. Fans present at the airport enthusiastically cheered ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as Rajinikanth departed for Ayodhya.
Notably, Rajinikanth’s fellow actor Dhanush was also spotted at the Chennai airport, indicating his departure for Ayodhya to join the event.
With the influx of prominent dignitaries from across the country, Ayodhya is witnessing heightened security measures in preparation for the ceremony. Meanwhile, on the professional front, Rajinikanth has temporarily stepped away from the filming of ‘Vettaiyan,’ directed by TJ Gnanavel, citing personal commitments.
