Sandalwood actor Ramya has opted out of the upcoming film “Uttarakaanda,” which was anticipated to be her comeback project in the Kannada film industry. Directed by Rohit Padaki and starring Dhananjaya in the lead role, the movie had garnered attention with Ramya’s voice-over in a North Karnataka dialect in its teaser, receiving positive feedback from fans.
Taking to social media to share the news, Ramya wrote, “I will not be working on Uttarakaanda due to unavailability of dates (I’ve put my film/political commitments on hold). Wishing the team the very best!”
This unexpected decision has left her fans disappointed, as they were eagerly awaiting her return to the silver screen. The film’s team is now in search of a replacement for Ramya, with the movie’s shooting originally planned for this year.
Interestingly, Ramya was also set to star in “Swathi Mutthina Male Haniye.” However, due to various reasons, she chose to step away from the project. Instead, she took on the role of a producer for the film, which received rave reviews.
In a previous interview, Ramya had shared her thoughts on the importance of a good script, stating, “At the end of the day, the script is everything. When Raj finished the script and sent it to me, I read it a few times before suggesting to Raj that we cast someone else. Raj asked why and I told him that it was purely because the script required a newcomer. And he agreed with me, which can only mean that both of us were thinking of what’s best for the film. He suggested Siri Ravikumar.”
