In Commemoration of Veer Savarkar’s Death Anniversary, Actor Randeep Hooda Pays Homage
Renowned actor Randeep Hooda, set to portray the role of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar in an upcoming biopic, recently honored the legendary freedom fighter on the anniversary of his passing. In a heartfelt social media post, Hooda reflected on Veer Savarkar’s profound contribution to India’s struggle for independence.
Hooda disclosed that during the film’s location scouting, he adopted an immersive approach by confining himself within the confines of the freedom fighter’s cell. This endeavor aimed to provide him with a deeper understanding of the challenges and emotions that Veer Savarkar may have experienced during his imprisonment.
On this occasion, Hooda remarked, “Today is the death anniversary of Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. A man whose towering intellect and fierce courage intimidated the British to the extent that they confined him in this 7 by 11-foot jail in Kalapani for two lifetimes (50 years). During the recce for his biopic, I attempted to lock myself inside this cell to grasp what he must have endured. I couldn’t stay locked for even 20 minutes, whereas he was confined for 11 years, often in solitary confinement.”
The upcoming biopic, featuring Randeep Hooda, Ankita Lokhande, and Amit Sial, is scheduled for release on 22nd March 2024 in Hindi and Marathi.
