In a major development for the highly anticipated film “Don 3,” Ranveer Singh is poised to step into the iconic role previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan. The third installment of Farhan Akhtar’s renowned franchise, set to feature Kiara Advani as the female lead, is generating excitement among fans who hope for a continuation of the legacy established by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in the earlier releases in 2006 and 2011.
Recent reports from Mid-Day reveal insider information that physical preparations for the film will kick off late in March. Both Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani are set to undergo agility training, with specialized martial arts instructors from Thailand enlisted for the purpose. Farhan Akhtar, the director, is reportedly eager to enhance the film’s action sequences and has engaged in discussions with action choreographers from India and abroad to infuse a fresh approach.
The insider disclosed Farhan Akhtar’s determination to present a distinct action palette, deviating from recent blockbuster trends in Hindi cinema, exemplified by films like “War” (2019), “Pathaan” (2023), and “Fighter.”
Last year, Farhan Akhtar surprised fans with a teaser release of “Don 3,” officially introducing Ranveer Singh as the new Don. The teaser, featuring a captivating city skyline, showcased Ranveer Singh delivering a powerful voiceover promising the awakening of the lion.
Addressing the mixed reactions to replacing Shah Rukh Khan in “Don 3,” Farhan Akhtar expressed his excitement for the project in an interview with BBC Asian Network. He emphasized Ranveer Singh’s suitability for the role, acknowledging the nervousness that comes with stepping into significant shoes, reminiscent of the challenges faced when Shah Rukh Khan took over from Amitabh Bachchan in the earlier films. The film boasts a staggering budget of Rs. 275 crore, underlining the scale and expectations associated with this highly-anticipated project.
