In the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung wreaking havoc in Chennai and its neighboring areas on December 4, the city is gradually recovering from the calamity. Relief efforts are in full swing, with various actors actively participating in contributing to the recovery process. The latest addition to this philanthropic endeavor is actor Soori, who has generously donated Rs 10 lakh to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF).
Soori handed over a cheque for the donation to actor and politician Udhayanidhi Stalin. Notably, this follows the footsteps of actors Sivakarthikeyan and Vishnu Vishal, who had previously contributed Rs 10 lakh each to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, taking to social media, shared a picture of Soori presenting the cheque and expressed his gratitude. In his Tamil post, he mentioned, “In order to support the relief work for the Mijam storm-heavy rain being carried out by the Tamil Nadu government, many people are providing financial support with social concern. In that regard, film actor brother @sooriofficial and Madurai Amman Restaurant have presented a check of Rs.10 lakh to the ‘Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund’ for flood relief work. My love and gratitude to him.”
The devastation caused by Cyclone Michaung prompted a swift response from the Tamil film industry. Earlier, actors Suriya and Karthi contributed Rs 10 lakh to four districts, including Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram, and Tiruvallur, which were severely affected by the cyclone.
As the city gradually returns to normalcy, the support from various quarters, including the film fraternity, continues to play a crucial role in aiding the recovery efforts and assisting those in need.
