Oscar-winning actor Troy Kotsur has joined the cast of the highly anticipated third season of ‘Foundation’. According to reports from Variety, Kotsur, known for his acclaimed performance in ‘CODA’, will portray the character Preem Palver, described as “the leader of a planet of psychics” in the sci-fi series. The show, which stars Lee Pace and Jared Harris, marks Kotsur’s return to Apple TV+ following his role in the successful film ‘CODA’.
Kotsur’s achievement at the 2022 Academy Awards made history, as he became the first deaf man to win an Oscar for acting. His win came for his role in ‘CODA’, a coming-of-age comedy-drama that also secured Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars. Notably, Kotsur competed against esteemed actors such as Ciaran Hinds, Jesse Piemons, JK Simmons, and Kodi Smit-McPhee for the award.
Aside from ‘CODA’, Kotsur has appeared in various television shows and films, including memorable roles in ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘Scrubs’, and ‘CSI: New York’.
Meanwhile, ‘Foundation’ debuted on Apple TV+ in 2021 and gained significant traction with its second season in 2023.
