Actress Twinkle Khanna recently opened up about her experiences while filming the iconic song ‘Mohabbat Ho Gayee’ alongside Shah Rukh Khan for the 1999 film ‘Baadshah’. In a candid conversation with Shrayana Bhattacharya, Khanna revealed the extreme measures she took to fit into her tight-fitting outfits for the song sequence. She disclosed that she subsisted primarily on roasted gram during that period, emphasizing that contrary to popular belief, many actresses often starve themselves to maintain their figure.
Reflecting on her decision, Khanna humorously remarked that her diet of choice was influenced partly by her Gujarati roots, finding it both effective and economical. Recollecting the challenging moments on set, she humorously expressed her fear of feeling like a “ball of gas” given her restricted diet, especially during scenes where Shah Rukh Khan had to lift her. Fortunately, her concerns about a potential mishap were unfounded.
However, discussing post-release feedback, Khanna amusingly mentioned receiving a review solely focused on her navel. ‘Baadshah’, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna in lead roles, remains a memorable film for fans and critics alike since its release over two decades ago in 1999.
