Television and film actor Rituraj Singh, known for his notable roles in popular shows such as ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ and ‘Anupama,’ along with his appearance in the film ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania,’ passed away on Monday night. The news was confirmed by his friend and fellow actor Amit Bahl, who stated that Rituraj succumbed to a cardiac arrest. Bahl revealed that Rituraj had previously been admitted to the hospital for pancreas-related treatment, returned home, and subsequently experienced cardiac complications leading to his demise.
Varun Dhawan, who shared the screen with Rituraj in ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania,’ expressed his grief by sharing a photo with the late actor. Varun wrote, “#RIP Rituraj sir, had such a wonderful time working with him and had just met him a few months back on the sets of ‘Baby John.’ Om Shanti!”
It appears that Rituraj also had a role in Varun’s upcoming project, ‘Baby John.’ In ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania,’ Rituraj portrayed the character of Varun’s father, portraying a patriarchal role.
Rituraj commenced his career in theatre with Barry John’s theatre action group, where he formed a close friendship with Shah Rukh Khan during their 12-year collaboration. The news of Rituraj’s demise prompted condolences from industry colleagues, including Hansal Mehta and Arshad Warsi.
In recent times, Rituraj expanded his presence to OTT platforms with projects such as ‘Abhay,’ ‘Bandish Bandits,’ ‘Never Kiss Your Best Friend,’ and ‘Made in Heaven’ Season 2.
