Vineeth Sreenivasan is currently engrossed in the promotions of his upcoming directorial project, ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’. The film features a star-studded cast including Pranav Mohanlal, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Nivin Pauly, Basil Joseph, and Kalyani Priyadarshan. The narrative revolves around two Malayalis venturing into Tamil Nadu’s capital, Madras (now Chennai), with aspirations of filmmaking.
While promoting his film in Chennai, Vineeth opened up about a missed opportunity. He expressed his regret for having to decline a role in Thalapathy Vijay’s eagerly anticipated film, ‘GOAT-The Greatest of All Time’, due to his commitment to ‘Varshangalkku Shesham.’
Speaking to Cine Ulagam in an interview, Vineeth disclosed that director Venkat Prabhu had approached him for a project, which was a collaboration with Thalapathy Vijay. The film was slated to commence filming in October. However, Vineeth’s dedication to ‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ compelled him to turn down the offer. While Vineeth believed he could have adjusted his dates if he were merely acting in the film, directing the project would have disrupted the schedules of other actors. Venkat Prabhu, understanding the situation, assured Vineeth of future collaborations.
Vineeth also shared that Venkat Prabhu played a pivotal role in his journey towards becoming a director. He cited Venkat’s film ‘Saroja’ as a significant inspiration. After watching ‘Saroja’ in Chennai, Vineeth had questioned why Malayalam filmmakers were not creating such films with budding talents. This questioning led to his directorial debut, ‘Malarvadi Arts Club’, which was a resounding success, with Venkat Prabhu serving as a major inspiration.
In other news, Fahadh Faasil recently spoke out against the controversial remarks made by Kalamandalam Sathyabhama, stating that her comments were inappropriate.
‘Varshangalkku Shesham’ is set to hit the theaters on April 11.
