In a recent exclusive interview with ETimes, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi shared insights into his latest venture with renowned filmmaker Rohit Shetty. Having previously collaborated on the popular web series “Inside Edge,” where Oberoi portrayed the character Vikrant Dhawan, and the acclaimed show “Dharavi Bank” alongside Suniel Shetty, the actor is now set to join the star-studded cast of Rohit Shetty’s upcoming web series, “Indian Police Force.”
Expressing his enthusiasm for working with Shetty, Oberoi revealed, “I’ve always wanted to work with Rohit Bhai, and we’ve been discussing this for 20 years now! And one fine day he called me and said let’s meet.” The actor praised Shetty not only as a director but also as a person, emphasizing his admiration for the filmmaker’s vision.
The collaboration took an exciting turn when Shetty disclosed the project to Oberoi, sharing that he had worked on the OTT show for nearly three years. Oberoi was particularly honored to learn that his character, Vikram Bakshi, was conceived with him in mind. “When he was writing for Vikram Bakshi (his character), he thought of me, and that’s a huge compliment,” Oberoi remarked.
Reflecting on the filming experience, Oberoi recounted a pivotal moment during the shoot of “Indian Police Force.” He described a challenging scene that required his best performance, stating, “I was super pumped during the shoot because when Rohit says I wrote this thinking of you, then you need to deliver.” The actor successfully navigated the complex scene, receiving praise from Shetty and the entire team. Oberoi shared the heartwarming moment, stating, “He said, ‘It was such a pleasure, such a joy working with an actor like you!!!’ And the whole team, they’re like Rohit’s extended family, so they started clapping, and I felt so emotional and touched.”
The actor went on to reveal a unique gesture from Shetty, who, during a lunch break, cryptically mentioned, “Tera ration card ban gaya.” Curious about the reference, Oberoi inquired, and Shetty explained, “When we’re happy working with somebody, when we like them as a person, we like them as a performer… ration card mein kis ka naam jata hai? family ka !! So you’re part of the family now.”
Vivek Oberoi expressed his gratitude for being welcomed into Rohit Shetty’s cinematic family, emphasizing the joy and camaraderie shared during the production of “Indian Police Force.”
