Actor Vijay, currently in Russia shooting for his upcoming film ‘GOAT’ (Greatest of All Time), made a special trip to Chennai to fulfill his democratic responsibilities. The actor, who is also the leader of the political party Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam, urged citizens to participate in the electoral process.
Taking to the official page of his party, Vijay stated, “I have done my democratic duty. I also kindly request you to go to your polling station and do your democratic duty.” The actor was greeted by enthusiastic fans as he cast his vote in the 18th Lok Sabha elections held in Tamil Nadu on April 19, 2024. Tamil Nadu was among the states holding elections in the first phase.
Having launched his political party in February 2024 and registered his vote, Vijay expressed his readiness to make his electoral debut in the 2026 state assembly elections. He emphasized that politics is not merely another career for him but a sacred commitment to the people. “It’s not because of a hobby that I have entered politics but a deeper desire to completely involve myself,” he said.
Vijay assured that he will prioritize his political responsibilities alongside his film commitments. He pledged to ensure that nothing interferes with his party work, stating his intent to fully engage in politics and serve the people. He further conveyed that his service is considered a debt of gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu.
On the film front, ‘GOAT’, directed by Venkat Prabhu, features Vijay alongside Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Laila, Sneha, Jayaram, Parvathi Nair, Vaibhav, Premji, VTV Ganesh, and Yogi Babu. The film’s music, composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, is set to hit theatres on September 5, 2024.
